What Are Backup Codes?
It’s possible to lose your phone, have the authenticator app fail, or even lose access to your email. In case this happens, you will be unable to log into your EA account. To prevent this, EA provides Backup Codes. These are one-time use codes that act as an alternative login method when Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) isn’t available. Using backup codes, you can always sign in securely, even from a new device.
Follow the simple steps below to find your backup codes.
Step-by-Step: How to Get Your EA Backup Codes
- Log in to your EA Account – Go to the EA Account portal and sign in.
- Open Security & Privacy Settings – In the menu, go to Security & Privacy.
- Go to Two-Factor Authentication Section
- If 2FA is not turned on, you will not see the backup codes option.
- Choose your preferred 2FA method (Authenticator App, SMS, or Email).

- Click on View Backup Codes
- Save Your Codes Securely – EA will provide six backup codes. Write them down or store them in a secure location. Do not share them with anyone.
- Renew When Necessary – If you use your codes or want new ones, you can generate a fresh set anytime by returning to the same page and clicking “Create New Codes.”
What If Backup Codes Are Not Showing?
- Make sure your Two-Factor Authentication (previously called Login Verification) is enabled.
- Refresh the page and check again.
- If issues persist, disable and re-enable 2FA, then return to the Security & Privacy settings.
